Hi, I have a problem playing a DivX avi with srt subs. All I get in Mediaplayer is a black screen and "Now playing" in the status bar. If I rename the srt file (so it doesn't have the same name as the avi) everything works fine (except the subs of course ...) and the movie plays without any problem. I have already tried synchronizing the subs with several tools, but the synchronization looks OK, the subs are complete, etc. Any ideas anyone? TIA JoePiler
Hi. Use VLC Media Player, it's a free alternative to WMP that supports hundreds of file types, including subtitles. You can even customise how the font appears on the screen etc.
Thanks for the tip, but I already tried that and it works that way. However, the thing is that the real problem is not Mediaplayer, but the fact that some converters (avi to DVD) also don't recognize the subs. It looks like somehow they got corrupt. With some movies I don't have any problems but others simply won't work...
