media center is great, but hardly can play most of the files. I looked for alternative to so that I play my files, found Dvix is great. but each time need to open the file once at a time using the mouse. I looked at this lined where insted of having Media Center, you have something called DvixOS. It lanches the dvix operating system allow you to have someting semilar like Media Center, but with Dvix codec. http://www.geocities.com/SiliconValley/Software/3691/DivxOS/ I wounder if anyone you have done something like this person
It isn"t the Media Player that decides which Files to Play...You could Install every Media Player there is and still not be able to Play all Files this is because it isn"t the Media Player that decodes the Files but what codecs you have installed on your System... If you want to be able to Play every File you come across you will have to Install the Correct codecs to decode these different Formats.... For most AVI Files you can Simply install "FFDShow Decoder" which will decode Most all AVI and Mpeg-4 formats Includeing DivX/XviD and most all audio Formats and all you do is install it and make sure it is Configured to decode all Formats and then it just works automaticly when ever you try to Play a File..... For Mpeg-2/DVD Files it is best to Install a Software DVD Player Like "PowerDVD" which will Install all Needed Mpeg-2 and AC3 decoders for Playing back Mpeg-2 Files and DVD"s.... If you go into the Software section of this site you will Find all the Codecs you will ever need... cheers
