I converted some avi files to DVD using DivxToDVD. It plays fine in my JVC multi region player but will not work in my Sony S550D player. It keeps giving me a region limit error. How is this being inserted to the DVD? I even tried to rip it again off of the DVD using DVD Decrypter and re-burning but it's still there. Any ideas? Thanks!
This is not a DivXToDVD Problem because it doesn"t have the Capability of adding a Region code to a DVD so it sounds More Like your DVD player doesn"t either Like your Media or disks created by DivXToDVD or some other reason... Have you Maybe Tried to use something else to Create DVD"s as DivXToDVD is the Program that Newbies Start out with, but usually move on to more advanced Programs after a while of makeing Boreing DVD"s without any Nice Menu"s Features and Chapters ect.... Maybe Try useing a Good Standalone encoder and a Proper DVD authoring program?? Good Luck
The media is fine and I have been using it in the same player for years. There's something either in the original AVI that I used or the conversion process that's causing my Sony player to reject it. It plays fine in my JVC player. The exact error I am getting is this “Playing this disc prohibited by area limits” What other program do you suggest to use that's fast and easy to convert an AVI file over to DVD? I don't really care about creating menus, etc. It's nice that it adds chapters. This brings up another question. Do downloaded AVI (using BitTorrent, etc.) have the ability to retain sub-titles and original chapters? Thanks for your help.
Well it could Just be that Your DVD player doesn"t Like Files authored with DivXToDVD but I have never heard of that problem and it couldn"t have anything to do with the AVI file.... There are lots of programs that can create DVD"s, there are easy ones Like "AVI2DVD" or "Nero vision express" or "Ulead DVD movie Factory" ect but I personally prefer to use a Standalone Encoder and a seperate DVD authoring program cuz this lets me get much better quality and Much more Video on a DVD and I get to utilize the other DVD standards that allow for 4 or even 6 or more Hours of video on a Single DVD and I get to make fancy menu"s and add chapters and put multiple movies on a DVD .... Some AVI files you download Have subtitles HardCoded into the Picture so you can not Turn them On or Off and Chapter Points are not a Feature of Most AVI formats so if you want Chapters you have to add them your self when makeing a DVD.... You can download Some Movies that have a seperate Subtitle File with it so you can use it to author a DVD with selectable Subtitles..... Cheeers
