Hello all, This is my first post, so before we start yelling our "use the search" and "search first" please know I have searched, and haven't found a solution that addresses my problem. Here's what I'm looking for, A piece of software that joins two identically formated AVI's into a single file... without reencoding. I simply don't understand why I should expect the process to take around an hour. If the resolutions were different, I would understand, but everything is the same. My understanding is that you could simply chop off the header of one file and slap it on the end of another (ok, it's probably not that easy, but I know it's not as hard as reencoding) In my mind, the process should take as long as it would to make a copy of the files. any suggestions? thanks spamftw
avidemux open first file.. append second file.. then save It takes a little longer than just sticking the files together (though if you are clever you can use the dos copy command to join them..{copy file1.avi file2.avi fileout.avi} and then another step again with avidemux to repair the index) because the program needs to interleave the join properly and then re-index the new file.. A 2 hour film in 2 parts should take avidemux about 4 minutes to complete a join.
