When I start windows i get an error that says SmartBridgeAlerts:MotiveSB.exe. The procedure entry point Get Process Image File NameW.PSAPI.DLL. could not be located in dynamic link library. I googled PSAPI.DLL. looked in my windows sys32 files I found one that is in lowercase letters but not in caps. Did not find any others. I know there should only be one of those files. My question is should there be one in uppercase and one in lowecase ? It does not appear to affect any thing as far as using my comp.
That is non-essential software "diagnosis" software used by some ISPs when troubleshooting problems. Disable it unless you need it. 2 alternatives you could try... (1) Run msconfig, look in the Startup tab, and disable motivesb.exe and reboot. (2) 1. Motive SmartBridge© is distributing an old version of PSAPI.DLL. As a result, users might receive the following error message after installation of Internet Explorer 7: "SmartBridge Alerts:MotiveSB.exe Entry Point Not Found The procedure entry point GetProcessImageFileNameW could not be located in the dynamic link library PSAPI.DLL" 2. Hal Screen Reader and Supernova Reader Magnifier by Dolphin both may stop responding when users click commands from Internet Explorer’s file menu. These two programs are shipped with an older version of psapi.dll that causes the program to stop responding in Internet Explorer 7. To resolve this error: * Go to the installation location for SmartBridge (\Program Files\Verizon...\Smart...) or Dolphin Hal Screen Reader or Supernova Reader Magnifier. [Alternately, search in Windows Explorer (WinKey+E) for "PSAPI.DLL" (without the quotes); you may need to enable Advanced option and the 3 options underneath it.] * Find PSAPI.DLL and rename it to something like PSAPIOLD.DLL * NB: Do NOT rename the PSAPI.DLL file in C:\Windows\System32 directory! * Restart the computer.
I reinstalled the offending software and that cured the problem. It was the selfhelp tool that is part of my dsl setup. Thanks for the help.
