I know online DVD rental services exist (i.e., Netflix, Walmart, Yudoo, etc.). Do similar services exist for renting audio CD's? I can't seem to find any, and I'm wondering why that might be.
The local library is about as close as it gets. I just borrowed an outstanding 4-disc box set of all Bo Diddley's work _X_X_X_X_X_[small] JMLS-166S/Plextor PX-708A/Plextor Premium[/small]
Thanks. That's a good idea. It must be a RIAA thing, preventing CD rental services from starting up, eh?
I've been pleasantly surprised many times by what the local library has. Unfortunately a lot of their discs are pretty worn, but I guess you get what you pay for.
No kidding! Two of the discs from that Bo Diddley set had little bits of the reflective layer missing from where the library people had pulled stickers off to put new ones on, in addition to all the scrathes.
That sounds like a copy of Who's Next I checked out. I mostly wanted to listen to the alternate takes at the end. Unfortunately there was a huge scratch on the top, right in the middle of the first of those songs.
