Hi, i been having numerous problems with my latest pc build, the problems have been to numerous to mention but i think now after i've checked all of my hardware, apart from the mobo, that i could have a corrupt windows xp cd.

The cd is genuine and does activate and pass all microsoft's genuine advantage tools, but after my lastest re-install, apart from not being able to do an internet explorer repair or windows repair again, when i go to windows update, instead of scanning and recommending the 100 or so critical updates it just gives me twenty this time, i haven't installed SP3?

Could i have a bad windows cd, each time i re-install windows there is always something different that does not work or goes wrong, is this a possibility, thanks.

You could always try to return it, and get another CD instead, but the updates don`t come all at the same time, it takes a few hours after the computer is on for the first time, to get all the updates needed, so give it some time.
