I have a DVD burner but no Dvd-rom on my computer. Is this all i need to make copys (well and the copy program of course)?
Yes, because you always have to copy the Original to harddisk. You can do that with your DVD writer. Than use DVD2one. Then copy the files from Harddisk to DVD-r/+r (DVD writer)
PIII, ME, CenDyne, DVDROM, DXC 1.5.2, Nero .10.20, pioneer firmware 1.30 Read a thread re: ripping and it was suggested that a DVD ROM be used for the ripping to HD. Then burn using the, well umm, burner. This due to dvd burners being poor/slow rippr's. I was having trouble with DXC "error reading source" NO MATTER WHAT I DID! until I read the post re: slow at ripping. After reinstalling the dvd rom along w/ burner...everything is fast and easy now. Rip w/ ROM burn w/ writer ps- I'm a Freshman at this and certainly this is most likely just a fix for my situation. ;-) This forum is VERY helpful!
I just bought my burner; my first DVD drive ever. (Besides on my laptop) I will be buying a DVD ROM this week, not only for the speed of ripping; but to save wear on my expensive burner.
I used to rip w/ Pioneer 104 but spent £35 on Lite-On 165 (f/w CH11) It's at least tripled my rip times. Plus on-the-fly option is a viability : p http://uk.special.reserve.co.uk/reviews/info.php?code=GG2545
