I am thinking about upgrading my xbox to a 750gb Seagate drive with 16mb cache. I know how to upgrade and everything, I just normally use drives with 8mb cache. I doubt this matters but I just want to be sure before I buy it. Also, this drive uses perpendicular recording (PATA). So the way the drive reads/writes is different than a standard drive but it is still IDE. Anyone have any experience with this? One more thing, a drive of this calibur would most likely support drive locking, right? Thanks.
Have you checked the xbox hdd compatability chart? http://xboxdrives.x-pec.com/?p=list Your drive may be there. Hope that helps.
It's too new a drive so it doesn't show up. It does show several drives with 16mb cache listed as working though, so that answers my first question, thanks! I emailed Seagate to find out about the drive locking capabilities because I doubt many people have tried using this drive yet. So now I just need to know if the PATA will be a problem?
