does memory match cpu?

    i have a gateway 614GE desktop...it has a single core cpu AMD 64.. i want to upgrade it to a dual core 64x2.. the memory in it is ddr pc3200.. do i have to change the memory speed or will it work as is.. and how do i know what wattage cpu to use 65w ? 89w? or other... can i install the fastest dual core they have or is there a window i have to work in based on the pc i have...sorry for lame questions.

    You have a socket 939 motherboard, you can't buy processors for that any more. You will be able to get second hand CPUs off ebay for it, but they won't be cheap considering their performance, and may not be compatible with your motherboard either.

    you can buy my amd opteron 185 dual core 2.66ghz...fits in 939socket
