When I press and hold the play/pause button on the click wheel of my iPod Video, it goes into "sleep" mode. The screen turns off, but if I run my finger around the click wheel immediately after I put the iPod Video into "sleep" mode, I can still hear the clicker scrolling down or up. (Screen still off.) But if I dont run my finger around the click wheel for about 1 - 2 minutes after I put the iPod Video to "sleep" mode, nothing happens. Try it, see if it happens to you. If it doesn't, I'm going to have to call Apple's technical support.

    Please let me know...

Mine does not have the clicking sound. I don't think it should do.

I wouldn't contact the apple support just yet. Have you tried a soft reset? (press and hold the 'middle button' + the 'menu button' for about 10 seconds until the apple logo appears)

If that fails, maybe you should try restoring the iPod using the iPod updater software.

-At least try these two steps before you call apple.

Yes, but we are talking about differences once you put the iPod in sleepmode. If you have nothing constructive to contribute, then save your energy typing.

I Am Making A Point Considering These People Don't What To Do!! They Give Up So Easily When They Think It's The iPod's Problem Not Their Own.

I have exactly the same problems, are there any solutions to this as I've tried both the toggle reset and ipod restore options.

My Video does this to and I noticed that when I scroll to the top of my screen and than switch off the iPod, scroll the wheel downwards and switch it back on it highlights the bottom. It's like its still on. Anyone going to call apple?

Do you know how much apple charge for their support line? Unless it is affecting you iPod, i.e preventing you from using the features, keep your money in your pocket..

iPod 5G (sleep mode, battery life, click sound)

You guys are lame. Don't you know when it does that it's in standby mode. After a few minutes of idle, it shuts totally off (sleep) Ok? Simple nothing is wrong with it. As for battery life the 30 gig, if you start a movie and leave it alone it wil play up to hours or more. It's not a guessing game it states everywhere it's sold. Now if you wanted more video viewing time, you should have bought the 60gig version. Clicks, can be turn on and off it's Not a problem dude. It's supposed to make a click sounds because it's not sleep, it's standby. When it's sleep; it's asleep and offffffff.
