Okay. So I decided to mod my old big DS because this will save me a lot of money in the long run. I have a lot of questions and I have no idea what I am doing. What I want: I want to be able put DS games on a card and play them on my DS. I also want to be able to do the same thing with GBA games, but I was also wondering if there is a way to have GBA cartridges and put different games on them multiple times. 1. What is the best card or setup for me? 2. If I can put GBA games on GBA cartridges, will those cartridges work in the Gamecube Game Boy Player? 3. To put the games on the cards, you just download the game and throw it on the card right? 4. Do these cards have long life spans? 5. Where would you recommend me to go to buy what I need (hopefully at the cheapest price possible)? 6. Anything else I can do to make my DS stronger or pimper? 7. If using a SD card you need a card reader right? 8. It seems like the DS-Xtreme 4GB DS-X is the easiest one to use, but is it also the strongest? 9. Any knowledge on the CycloDS Micro SD (it says it lets you run both DS and GBA games)?
1. The M3 Perfect MiniSD + Passcard3 2. Yes, and the GBA/GBASP/GBM 3. Yes and no, for GBA games you can but only 1 game at a time. If you want more than 1 game, and NDS games, they need to be patched, this is done easily by using software to copy the games to your card (the software applies the patch as it is copied) 4. Yes, the M3 has 2 years of autosave battery life, when the battery dies you can still save manually before turing off the unit, or just replace the battery. 5. Divineo or ModChipStore though there are others listed in my M3 guides. 6. Stronger? meh... 7. Yes, though these are cheap as chips these days, well actually cheaper 8. DS-X can't play GBA games, plus it is stuck with only 512MB of memory, if your after a slot-1 device, get a M3 DS Simply, or an R4 DS 9. Wouldn't recommend it, unknown team - might not keep the software up-to-date for newer games to work. 10. oh, there is no 10
Do you have a guide that tells you: 1. Where to buy GBA cartridges and how to put games on those cartridges? 2. Do those GBA cartridges play games just as good as the real cartridges?
You recommended me: The M3 Perfect MiniSD http://www.divineo.com/cgi-bin/div-us/dd-ds-m3minia Passcard3 http://www.divineo.com/cgi-bin/div-us/dd-ds-pssc The 2GB miniSD and Reader is going to cost me $29 This would cost me in order from lowest to highest (M3 Perfect MiniSD + Passcard3 with cheapest shipping included + 2GB miniSD + Reader): Kicktrading (All out of stock, I see why): $100 bundle + $29 = $129 Gamersection: $101 bundle + $29 = $130 Getyourgameshere.com: $103 bundle + $29 = $132 Consolesource: $104 bundle + $29 = $133 Modchipstore: $107 bundle + $29 = $136 Gameyeeeah: $108 bundle + $29 = $137 Divineo: $109 bundle + $29 = $138 Realhotstuff: $109 bundle + $29 = $138 Winsunx: Its all Chinese version, I don't wanna solder anything I am confused, does this work with a MiniSD card or a regular SD Card, Web sites are saying different things here.
AVOID products made by Neo-flash, there is a reason they've been in the bargain bin for several months. For the M3 MiniSD you need a miniSD card (clues in the title)
Another one of my friends said I should look into this: G6 Lite 4Gb with Passcard = $100 http://www.divineo.com/cgi-bin/div-us/dd-ds-g6passc Does this have the same power as the M3 Perfect MiniSD with Passcard3?
The G6 is made by the M3 team, it has all the features of the M3, plus a couple more, such touch screen support in the G6 menu. I wouldn't recommend it though as there are too many cons compared to the M3: - The memory is fixed ast 512MB - The memory is slower than what you can get from a good SD card (4/4.5 on the castlevania test) - You have to be careful when putting data on it as you can easily corrupt it, and have to spend ages fixing it. - And if your unlucky like i was it will decide to randomly start freezing mid-game and evetually start refusing to load games, followed by refusing to boot at all, and finnaly sending it back and getting a refund :-(
What about: M3 Platinum DIY Combo (Slot 1 + Slot 2 M3 Solution, SD Reader,2-MicroSD) http://www.modchipstore.com/M3-Plat...ution-m3-simply-m3-lite-perfect-1g-16420.html 1. Does the M3 Lite work in slot 2 on the old big DS? 2. I'm also afraid of the spring that holds the SD cards is going to break.
Forget that other stuff, I'm going with the M3 MiniSD with Passcard3. Just warn me if there is problems with these products or praise them please. I just need to know if this will work as a Card Reader http://www.meritline.com/usb-sd-mmc-rs-mmc-memory-card-reader-writer.html or should I get this one http://www.modchipstore.com/microsd-sd-minisd-usb2-card-reader-usb-16402.html I also plan to get the a PQI 2GB miniSD card with adapter http://meritline.stores.yahoo.net/pqi-minisd-card-2gb.html It seems to get everything is going to cost me about $136, it will be well worth it though. I don't understand how you put things on the root of the miniSD Card though, please explain this to me.
ya ask a lot of questions. card reader: anything that takes standard sd. since whether you have a microsd or a minisd, it will most likely come with a standard sd adapter. so look for anything that just says sd. anything other sd sizes it can read is just a plus. never heard of pqi... might be a bad sign. root= "(X" where X= a letter(ummm... including X...) so go to: my computer, and 2xclick it and you should see all your drives[(c, (d, (etc], click on something like your sd[let's say (f], the folder that opens up next is the root. and the heading should say ["something" (f]. don't go into any other folder, you are now at the root. this is important to remember (for installs and patches).
I always do this to myself. I think I am ready to buy and enjoy a product, then I think of another question, hopefully this is the last one. I still just don't see how I can play GBA-GB Games on my Gamecube Gameboy Player with this stuff. Wouldn't the M3 miniSD need the passcard to allow it to boot?
The Passcard is only for things NDS related (it forces the DS to load in NDS mode, even though it is running the software from the GBA slot. The M3 can run GBA games and GBA homebrew without a passcard, just not NDS games or NDS homebrew When you play a GBA game on the DS the DS shuts off all uneeded hardware such as the touch system, the microphone, one of the processors, one of the screens etc. The Passcard makes sure that the DS does not do this when using the M3 otherwise NDS code would not work.
don't worry, i know the feeling all to well, i'm not all to sure i like my new cell phone... only a minisd will fit, therefore that is your only option. unless there's a minisd adapterd for a microsd, but microsd's are generally more expensive due to the small size.
Got a questions guys When you're playing back up games can you get on nitendo wi-fi? Is this all i need to play back up 1.ds lite 2.m3 with memory card Is that it? i just need to put the ds ISO into the meory card and i can just play it? Can i get on internet with DS lite?
I believe Wi-Fi play is possible on most games. I have played Mario Kart DS, Tony Hawk's American Sk8land, Bomberman Land Touch! and Metroid Prime: Hunters all on Wi-Fi and have yet to have any issues. If you're only interested in playing DS back-up and not GBA ones as well you only require an M3 DS Simply and a microSD card. Yes. For the M3 DS Simply back-ups are drag-and-drop and instantly playable.
fixes have been made in the quote. note: i didn't do that to be an a-hole, it just helps clear things up for other readers. just in case it seemed that way, because i did it before, and after i read it, i thought: "man, i sound like an a-hole." a. yes, but wifi with other ds'es may be spotty if your backup is trimmed; or just because... b. yes, notice passcard3 was added. as well as m3 ds simply section. c. yes, after selecting it of course. d.you can if you have a slot-1 device (r4, m3 ds simply, supercard 1, ds-x, etc.) ~AND~ a slot-2 device that is either m3 or supercard (only). read the opera browser thread.
