during the burning process of backing up my dvd's i get errors...
i am usng dvd shrink for back-up
i have used image burn as well as convertXtodvd as my burning programs....
the media i am using is philips dl dvd+R 8X speed
my burner is the lg HL-DT-ST dvd ram gsa-H54N
with both burning programs i get a spindle servo error...as well when using image burn i get the following error "optimal L1 data zone start LBA none found (VTS 01)- image has not mastered correctly for burning to dl (otp path) none of the cells meet the dvd video specs for layer break position"

note that i have no problems burning onto DVD5 using any of the hardware or soft ware and any dvd+r media

i would like to tag onto this thread...

hmm from what is said its the structure of the dvd original not being ripped ok or after you have the ripped files you are doing something to structure? and your apps cant read it. i dont do dual layer discs i compress film only to dvdr...

stay tuned people here will help, but as a guess if it were me i would go for anydvd running and use cloneDVD 2

humm since it burns to a dvd-5 with no problems it could be a compatible problem with the brand of media your using. the DL disc your using should code out as Ritek? try DVD Identifier to see. The Verbatim DVD+R DL is highly recommended. Also when burning DL media keep your burn speed at 2.4x or 4x max. how fast did you burn?

Also make sure you have to most up to date firmware for your drive/burner,check here

when useing dvd shrink did you change the "AUTO compression" to "NO compression" [ignore warning on size]

and output as iso not files...

then try imgburn to burn to your DL

    or

anydvd running with dvd decrypter in MODE ISO READ, then use imgburn to burn it...

    or

Copy the file using DVD Decrypter or Shrink to a VIDEO_TS file not an ISO then use Img burn the MANUALLY SET THE LAYER BREAK
