Hey everyone. I just got finished backing up two video DL DVD's to my hard drive (using DVDShrink). Seems everything went okay but I could be wrong since I'm here now. I decided to burn the ISO images with Alcoholsoft 120% at 2.4x. Problem is that my DVD player doesn't want to recognize the DL DVD's! Neither do my PS2 or PS3. The DL DVD+R's I have are Memorex. I've only burned DL probably once before and I had the same issue. Played on the computer though. Any help? I didn't mess much with any of the options on my programs, so if I can get some advice it'd be much appreciated!

use imgburn instead ALSO booktype the DVD+R DL media to DVD-ROM

Verbatim is always the best choice when buying DL blanks. The memorex should code out as Ritek which is ok media

Hrrm, booktype it to DVD-ROM in IMGBURN? Do I use the ISO's or do the whole process of backing them up all over again?

So, I was just trying out what you guys were sayin'. Thanks for the help!

    PIONEER DVD-RW DVR-111D 1.19 (ATA)
    Current Profile: DVD+R DL

Unfortunately, I think I have one of those drives that doesn't support changing the booktype. I can select DVD+RW media for some reason (won't let me change to DVD-ROM, either) but it won't let me select DVD+R DL media. I get an Unknown (failed) message. This sucks. Oh well. Thanks guys. If you have any last ditch efforts, let me know, lol.

ReloadX, unfortuantaly Pioneer drives don't booktype unless you want to get hacked firmware for the drive, Lite-On, Samsung etc do booktype. are you sure your DVD player supports even playing DL media? you might check your specs. you could always use SL media

I'm not exactly POSITIVE that my DVD player plays DL DVD's but isn't being able to play the originals where I got the ISO's from proof that my DVD player can play DL DVD's? I'm only used to burning SL movies, hah. If it helps uhm, my DVD player is an APEX AD-1500. Lost the paperwork with it a long time ago. Hacked firmware sounds interesting, though. I'm not extremely disappointed that I can't burn DL like I want to-- just annoyed, lol. Thanks guys, lotsa help!

nope - its if your drive can read the dye code off a DL, a pressed dvd DL is different, +DL booktyped to dvdrom helps and useing verbatim has a higher success rate.

Ohh, I see. I'll definitely have to look around the forums some more and check up on my DVD player also. I'll get myself some Verbatim DL's too if it comes to that. Thanks for the help!
