downloaded movie error

    help please i have downloaded a movie .
    tried to encode it through nero and its coming up with unrecognizable file format what do i do ?

    What type of movie is it (divx,vcd,svcd?) and can you play it on your computer with any software???

    its an avi file but it will not play on any form of audio or imaging all i get is unrecognizable file format even thru nero .
    i have burnt off mpegs thru nero which did encode but not these ... dunno why

    Do you have any divx codecs or anything installed.

    What files size is + whats its filename (such as tmd requires the tmd codec!)???
