downloaded XVID dark areas pixelated with black and green, can i correct this?

    i downloaded an XVID movie and all the dark areas are pixelated alternate green and black. is there a program that will correct the colour? i don't even know if it's possible so if it's not just tell me + i'll shut up!

    Depends if it is a playback issue or if it is encoded like that. Try playing it back via mplayer or VLC.

    thanks for the advice. it's better but it's not that bad when playing on my PC. i'm only asking because when i convert it to DVD it's really really ugly. Hmmmm.... maybe i should ask this in the DVD encoding forum instead - i'm still quite new so i don't really know where this should be.
