Downloading

Hi,

Have read a couple of posts that have answered my questions and have downloaded TMPGEnc and it is taking 4 hours to convert a film.

Was wondering if you could download films so you dont have to convert and where from?

Any help would be appreciated

 

we dont talk about downloaded movies on here,its against forum rules.

 

I suggest you search for bit torrent sites or news groups on google or yahoo.

Hi:

I have tried six times to download TMPGenc Author 1.5, including directly from Pegasys. All attempts have failed. From the AfterDawn area the size of the package is 12+ Mb. After 2 Mb the download is declared completed--but it isn't. Thereafter I have to thoroughly search my PC for any fragments of TMPGenc lest the next download attempt be foreshortened. A non-starter!

From Pegasys the size of the package is much smaller(some 1.7 Mb), but after a short download period this effort also stops abruptly. The error message there mentioned a compressed file.

Do I need to run DVD Decrypter against this download to get it?

Will someone give me a hint?

You will need dvd decrypter or a similar ripper to convert films, Im sorry to hear about your luck with downloading tmpeg. How are you connected to the internet? I know that at one point my cable modem was connected to an amplified cable outlet and that led it, and all my downloads, to freeze every few minutes, however I am not sure this is what is happening in your case. Does this problem only occure when attemping the download of tmpeg? Have you tried alternate download locations such as doom9? Past the downloading issue, are you trying to make s/vcds or backup your movies to dvds? Reading your specs it would seem that you are trying to make dvd's, as such, I must recomend a different backup method. DVD Shrink is an excellent all-in-one tool for backing up movies, it is better, in my opinion, than its share ware equivalents. I suggest that you read the guides on this site (http://www.afterdawn.com/guides/) doom9 (http://www.doom9.org/guides.htm) or DVD2DVDR (http://www.dvd2dvdr.com/) and choose a backup method before downloading anything.

My usage of "DVD Decrypter" in my posting was a bit of sarcasm about the download.

I don't mean to offend, but I wonder why almost every time I report having difficulty with a PC operation many folks seem to think that I just fell off the broccoli truck yesterday. I will learn in the future to provide enough information to allow the reader to know that I, too, know about CTRL_ALT_DEL and where the ON/OFF switch is located.

I download other large packages frequently. I have never experience an early declared completion of the download. That signal has to come from the package being downloaded.

Somewhere from AfterDawn(or a link thereto)the download is of size 12+ Mb. I tried several times on several different sessions to download from there without success. It is declared complete after a little more than 2+ Mb.(Please read my signature. You will learn that space is not my problem. . . .)

I suspect that the problem relates to "compressed files." Possibly, some parts of the files are compressed and anticipated decompression somehow. If the decompression does not occur, action stops. The file is signalled to be at an end. . . .???

I also sent an e-mail to Pegasys. Their response said the reply might take a week. Maybe if they do read my e-mail, I will learn what the problem is.

Until that time I would appreciate anyone who has downloaded TMPGenc Author 1.5 to respond to this posting to tell me how the download went.
