I've been using Dr. DivX with limited success over the past week. My main problem is that some movies are completely out of sync between the audio and video. I don't mean a little bit, but more like 3 seconds different. Needless to say, it makes it impossible to watch a movie like this. Has anyone else had this problem w/ Dr. DivX and were you able to fix it somehow? Thanks!
Dr.DivX sucks (my opinion). Use GordianKnot http://www.afterdawn.com/software/video_software/video_encoders/gordian_knot.cfm or if you are a real n00bie you could try AutoGK http://www.afterdawn.com/software/video_software/dvd_rippers/autoGK.cfm Use either with Koepi's XviD codec http://www.afterdawn.com/software/video_software/codecs_and_filters/xvid_koepi_unstable.cfm and please note: both wonderful products are open-source (free!) while both yours are proprietary ($$) and, you are having trouble with them... Can AutoGK be used to convert Xvid to Divx? I have a stand-alone player that ony will play Divx, so I need to convert alot of my video files.
I’ve had that same problem. What I did to fix it was de-select the first Cell or Chapter when you’re ripping the DVD. The first Cell or Chapter is usually the Logos and such that you don’t really care about anyway. You may have to experiment a bit to get it right. One way may be to watch the DVD to see at which Chapter the movie actually starts. Good Luck, Michael
DVD Decrypter (in IFO mode) will select the movie. No titles/menus/logos/BS - just the film :^) Therefore, when your AVI encoding program starts up, the film is all there is to work from... It is impractical to convert XviD to DivX - that would be like converting VBR MP3 audio from LAME codec to Radium Fraunhofer codec; a pointless task. Hmmm... Mpeg4 is Mpeg4. An MP3 is MP3 - you don't find players that will play Fraunhofer but not LAME! I am sure your player will play compliant XviD Mpeg4. The keyword is compliant... I dunno, if they won't play you better stay away from them. Or play them back on your PC, or get a different standalone. But converting them would be nasty (nasty job/nasty results). If you are making backups, use DivX! If downloading AVIs, you're on your own... Regards
