i have Dr Divx 2.0 OSS. i tried encoding a couple of my movies and they look awesome, but they have no sound. i didn't change any of the settings. should i have? or could it be something i changed when i ripped them. i ripped one movie with shrink and the other with clone dvd and neither had sound when encoded to divx.

i just remembered, i've used winavi also, and that one does encode with sound, but they come out with a slight crackle in the sound, and it's persistant through the whole movie. thanx in advance for any and all help.

Well I don't know about your first problem but the crackling is probably coming from the internal line in, even if you don't think you have one, go to your volume control and mute the line in.

just tried it and it still crackles. just to be sure, we are talking about the crackle problem with winavi, right?

    Yes we are.
Is the crackle there before the conversion?
Try muting all the sounds instead of just the one maybe.

nope, still does it. i muted everything. still does it. i even put the volumes at half, i figured maybe it was feedback from being too loud, still does it.

Maybe you can reinstall the codec for avi file.Make sure it's not broken.

goldstar for lisa. i had done this a couple days ago. and went crazy encoding movies. yes it was the codec on the divx player. i DL'd and installed an all-in-one codec and divx movies play fine. the sad part is, i deleted the other movies cause i thought they had gone wrong. c'est la vie, right? so anyway, thank you very much. i will try winavi, maybe it fixed that too. =)
