Many applications now have this feature. You just put in a blank cd or dvd and format it. Then you can use the cd or dvd as you would use a floppy disk. I know that Roxio Easy CD Creator and Roxio Easy Media Creator both have this feature. Does anyone know of any other applications that also have this feature?
The technology is fragile. So I'd suggest you do yourself a favor and not bother with it. Nero Burning Rom comes with InCD that does it, but I won't install it on any of my machines anymore. It just hoses your burning. For more details google on Packet Writing CDRW.
It means that packet writing software, such as Roxio's Drag to Disc, Nero's InCD, and Sonic's DLA, is unreliable, at best. You take the chance of losing everything you do, using this method of burning, but for burning video, it is absolutely the wrong method to use, and I don't think Roxio's D2D will even do it. Packet writing software is good for one thing. Transferring files from one computer to another, if done in short timespan. Using it for permanent storage is like playing Russian Roulette. Use the programs in the suites, that was intended for making permanent backups. Creator Classic (Roxio) and Nero Express are two such programs.
