Ive got a dreambox 500c and my partner had resent the factory settings and now ive lost all my channels can anyone help me i really don't know what to do!!! Thanks Y
you will have to install it again , tv type pal ,language english,etc and if its cable do an auto scan on your provider (virgin/ntl etc) press menu on the remote then , press number 6 on the remote , then service searching.
i have done this but its still not working it scans all the channels and i have them on the tv menu but the only ones that show a picture is 1 to 5 and some of the freeview channels...i thought i mite need to update the codes but i can't find any
when you say 1 to 5 do you mean rte/tv3/3e and a few other free channels. did you reboot the box as the emu could be switched off. to reboot press menu and then i think you press 5(shutdown and reboot)then press ok , your box will switch off and then restart. on screen you should see some thing like (starting evocamd) no go to sky one or sky sports 1 and see if the box comes back on after a few seconds. my box is satellite so the menus are a bit different to yours and its a few months since i worked on a cable version ,so i hope it works for you.
The factory reset removes all key files from /var/etc/. These need to be reloaded. I know its a bit late now but you should always backup keys and EMU on your PC before resetting dreambox. I was not aware that the 500C still worked? Keys can be got. Google TCB toolbar
as fintann said the keys will be deleted when you do a factory reset (if you have been putting them in via remote control) if your image was working and updating the codes ok before you reset the box then it should continue to do so after it . as i said go to sky sports1 or sky1 and leave it there to see will it update its self . if not follow fintanns advice and get the codes and put them in via remote .
Ive googled the tcb toolbar now where do i get the rest from....yeah the box did work it doesnt pick up all the channels like sky 1 but its been good and it was free lol
install the toolbar on your computer , it will appear at the top of your screen when ever you go on line. now click on the big key and you will see a choice of providers (choose your one ) the code should be in front of you . do you know how to enter the codes.
its the same codes that was on the bigmaq toolbar...wen i go into var/keys/keylist ive got 7 lines of different codes...are these mucking up the system...do they need to be deleted?
no they wont muck it up, you only need to use 2 lines , a 00 line and a 01 line (you may only need to change the odd number or letter and not the whole thing) there should be a date at the end of each line ,i would use the 00 and 01 lines with the most recent dates . all you do is highlight the line you want to edit and press ok on the remote. then use the right arrow button to go to and change what needs to be changed , do this for both lines .when your done press exit and save ,press exit again. now press menu and choose shutdown and reboot (you need to this every time you edit the box are the changes might not become active) when the box restarts go to sky1 or sky sports1 , all being well the box should work now.
A factory reset would also wipe out the nagra Rom's 7,10,11 as well Box wont be able to autoroll without these. What image are you using on the DB ? (big initials on screen when powered on).
