Hello, my LG 8160B CD-RW is not working properly because when i after reinstalled windows xp, i also installed the CD recording software which came with the drive. Not long after, I uninstalled the program and now the computer can't use the drive. It doesn't show up in the My Computer page. When i open device manager, it says :
Windows cannot load the device driver for this hardware. The driver may be corrupted or missing. (Code 39)

I have already tried to reinstall the cd recording software but it can't be detected since the cd drive doesn't work. I have tried uninstalling and reinstalling the hardware and the windows troubleshooter but nothing works. I think that the directcd.exe might be needed but i can't find a source to download it.

Thanks a lot for your help! I really appreciate it :)))))))))

In the Device Manager, does Windowz show your LG burner? When you boot up or reboot do you have power and led lights? If the device is listed in Device Manager try uninstalling>reboot and check to see if "this device is working properly." Make sure all your IDE cables are snug on the LG drive too.
