I installed DVD Copy X Press and tried to burn my first dvd. It read the original dvd fine, but now when i put my dvd+r disc in, it won't read it and my start button won't turn green. Am I missing something basic? Would be greatful to anyone who may know the answer. Thanks.
I have the exact same problem. I've called support 3 times and they have not been able to help me. My burner is Sony DRX-510UL, Windows XP pro and using Fuji media. We've gone through the black list of incompatible software, upgraded firmware and still nothing works. DVD reads fine but cannot start writing using DVD Xpress because button doesn't turn green. I tried using DVD X copy and it worked but Xpress won't. Hopefully someone can answer and help us both.
Yes, it does. -R and +R are two completely different formats. Kinda like putting a Beta tape into a VHS recorder.
I called support a fourth time and this time they had me go to a website and installed something called force aspi and now both dvdXcopy and Xpress work beautifully. Rwierer, why don't you try it and see. You should also know that any Roxio software on your computer needs to be uninstalled, then go to this website and force aspi. Good luck. Website is http://ftp.321studios.com/ASPI/ForceASPI.exe
Um, noviceXP, I don't think that was his problem. He specifically said he was trying to use +R media in a drive that was -R only.
Thanks ken, i'll get -R dvd's first. I'm new to this and had no idea that the +R would work in my DVD-RW drive. I'll write back again if this doesn't solve my problem. Russ
No problem Russ. You might want to pay a visit to the DVD Media forum and listen to what some of the people have said about different media. Not only are there different formats, but different qualities of media. A DVD-R is made by converting the dye on the disc. Different quality of dye gives different quality of results. Kinda like newspapers (poor quality) and hard cover books (good quality.) Both are methods of putting typed ink onto paper, but we've all had newspaper smudge on us. Good luck!
