i recently had a crash and i had to replace windows and the hard drive in my comp and the newer version of windows that i got didnt have my drivers for my dvd drives. so i looked on the net and found them but they wont install correctly. i might be doing something wrong, im not sure, but i know i have the right drivers. i have also tried putting in other drives and i have the same problem. any help would be great. thanks
With XP I have never had to install drivers for any optical drive. Why can't you use the XP drivers? What brand do you have that XP drivers just won't do?
one of them is a pioneer and the other is a TEAC. i have no idea why XP cant find one. it cant even find one on the net
When you install the drives (for the first time) does Windows recognize them when it first starts up?
I hate hardware/software conflicts. Look for a program called "belarc advisor" and run it. Free for personal use. It can help resolve many issues.
thnx buik ill try that. ya windows does recognize the drives. i can go into the device manager and they are there. they have a yellow question mark next to them. yes the jumpers are set right.
uninstall both rom drives in device manager, restart windows so it can load it's own driver for the drives
