I just tried updating my firmware because my friend says his movies ripp a lot faster than mine. I went form 1.0d to 1.1a i believe and now i am getting a CRC error during the intial analysis. Could some one please give me a hand. I have made plenty of backups in the past and have never encountered this error ever before in the last year. The firmware update went smooth.

i have also check to make sure the drive is setup for DMA. i have windows xp, 2.4ghz, 768mb ram.

A CRC usually means the source disc is either dirty/scratched or has corrupt data on it. Try cleaning your disc and trying again.

actually, after i downgraded my firmware back to the original, i didnt have that problem anymore. I dont know what happened there but im not updating it anymore.

The only reason i did was because i was told that it usually takes about 1hour to shrink and rip a dvd, others say it takes less time.
