Hi My daughter droped her Ds and broke the hinge. I bought a new case & top screen. To replace the casing i had to take the whole lot apart. i did not realise the touch screen had a locking clamp and have broken it. I have got the new case on and is working ok if you hold the ribbon on the connection the touch screen does work. Can anyone advise if this can be fixed.
dont know what you mean by "hold the ribbon on the connection the touch screen does work". is the connection loose/broken, can you solder it? if not you may have to buy a replacement. either TFT LCD Replacement Module for NDS Lite (Lower Screen) and/or Touch Screen Replacement Module for NDS Lite, can buy it at www.dealextreme.com (Hong Kong base, 10+ days shipping)
There is nothing wrong with th eribbon cable when i hold that againt the motherboard it works it the little black cilp that you unlocks for it to be removed. I broke that.
Sorry, but this cannot be repaired (economically) You will probably have to replace the logic board. You might be able to "rig" something but it will never work properly (long term) without the locking clamp.
Well, at least you didn't do what one guy did. I bought a broken NDS phat from a guy and he broke ALL of the cable clamps and thought that hot glue would do as a replacement.
HI Got a new 1 but still really miffed i did not fix it - think i liked the challenge. Does ne 1 know if i can get a motherboard cheaper than £50.00
You can gamble on buying a DS with a broken screen or torn apart but that otherwise powers up. I was getting them in the US for $40-50 USD but sometimes it was a challenge.
