What do u guys think if sony would band together with nintendo like a pdsp were the psp has the same compatibility as the ds. also it will have the dsi touch screen the psp disc, memory stick, analog button and analog stick then add the dsi camera and the games boosting the memory and then give it a dual system compatibility that allows the analog button without any umd in to become a dsi. alot of work if i could draw it out i would show u wat i mean by the schematics i have figured out it looks cool to me just picturing it in my head it is complicated though.
Post withdrawn. However, let me leave you with this. . . What's in it for Sony and Nintendo if they do this????
well hopefully a good development for both of the products in the making of it also to make it a better product for consumers and game players alike.
IMHO, and respectfully, it's a "nice" answer but it happens to be the wrong answer. There is a common saying in business. "If you aren't making money, it's just a hobby." I see little moneymaking potential in diluting the market share with a cross hardware platform. The whole idea of "platform specific" games is to tie users to a particular hardware platform. Ex. Pokemon to Nintendo. There is no additional profit to be gained by your suggestion and that's what it's all about, not the "customer experience". Both of the things that you cite show that you are a little naive in the ways of business, and that's what it's all about, not "to make it a better product for consumers and game players alike".
i had a dream u can call me a liar but when the dsi was announced i dreamt about it 1 yr ahead of time and starting talking to my friends about it back in texas and now look at what happend people call me jinx because i usally will know or dream about something that i think is crazy and won't happen, i have had this one single dream for a month in a half know. could it be like the dsi that me and my friends thought was fake or might it be real on day to what i am talking about is to double the chances of a success for the psp of 2012 since it is sopose to be touch screen anyway way not experiment i know it sounds crazy but think of how much the company's can learn from one another i am going to start on the schematics tonight and then i will send a print for what i think could work if a ds emulator will work on the psp! why not step it up, a notch?

Alright, lets look at it this way: Theres the DS/DSL/DSi and theres the PSP(and its variants) Each console plays its specific games and not those of the competitor. Most people interested in handheld consoles already own one or both of them. Now lets introduce the new PDSP that plays both sets of games. What does this gain the user of said handheld system? What incentive is there for them to buy a new console that plays the games already played by consoles they own? This is alot like when sega attempted to introduce the nomad. It was an interesting concept: a portable sega genesis. But aside from portability it didn't bring anything new to the table. There was no reason for consumers to buy it since it just played the same old games. And to make the idea of a combo-console less likely, there's rampant fanboyism between the two competing consoles. I'm not starting a flame thread and if anyone says anything further on the subject I wont acknowledge them, but I know many DS owners who believe that the PSP has no decent games, and I know PSP owners who insist that the DS is a kiddy toy with hokey controls. And I realize that that's not all or even most players who have those feelings, but it's still not an insignificant number and none of those people would be interested in spending any money on a combo-console. Finally, theres the fact that sony and nintendo really hate each other. The last time they tried working together on a console was on the SNES CD-ROM addon. Which turned out rather badly and resulted in nintendo losing the final fantasy series. So I dont see them working together again any time soon.
