I have always been disappointed with the DS Lite's sound, especially as compared to PSP, and especially considering that I use my DS *far* more than my PSP (which is essentially an expensive paperweight), but never thought much about it. I recently changed the case on my DS from white to the red/black as a result of a broken hinge, however, and was moved to look into the idea. Now, I'm *shocked*, but I've searched everywhere online and haven't found a single post on any forum or mod'ing website *anywhere* about making changes to the DS's shoddy sound system. Is there a sound technical reason why this might be? I can't possibly be the only person on the planet who wishes the DS's speakers were louder, can I? In my research, I've noted that while PSP's speakers are substantially louder than the DS's, they are physically quite a bit *smaller*, which means that, unless I'm overlooking something, they should be able to be mounted into a DS Lite with very little trouble. Has anyone attempted this? Or for that matter changing the audio output by *any* means whatsoever? I hope to hear back and get some meaningful dialog going, so if you have any info or thoughts please do add something! Thanks! Jason
It is what it is. There are engineering limitations. You want better sound, use headphones or externally amplified speakers. No dialog to be had. We hashed this to death on antoher board.
What engineering limitations specifically? Is it the speakers? Is it the amount of power routed from the board to the speakers? Some idea would be nice . And not to doubt you or anything, but I find *zero* reference to the topic anywhere on *any* DS board. If there's a discussion to be had, I'd love to see it, if only for my own understanding. Thanks! Jason
I would look to see if there are grips that contain speakers for the ds lite even if you have to import them you would be better off then trying to take apart your ds lite.
