In one of the guides I read on how to use dvd shrink, it said you may choose to discard some of the streams to save space. Why would I choose to discard the dts audio stream vs. the ac3 audio? What's the difference? Thanks. By the way, the advice on this forum has made it very easy to backup my dvd collection using just shrink 3.2 and dvd decrypter 3.5.1.
Hi. Well with all things there are pros and cons to both. AC3-Dolby Digital. Pros- Takes up less room on the DVD. Can be played through sources that don't have a DD decoder. Cons- Not many really. Personaly I don't think it sounds as good a DTS. DTS Pros- Sound is much better then DD. Crisper Highs and Deeper Lows. Cons- Takes up more room on your DVD (normally) then DD. Requires a DTS decoder to listen to. Depending on the movie I will sometimes remove the DTS track to save space. DTS only realy comes into its own on movies with a lot of efects and auction. If it is just say a romantic comedy then I will usully only us the DD track as you will not be able to tell the dif between the two. Hope this is of some help.
