Ive been using Windows XP Pro SP2 & just got Windows Vista Ultimate. I want to install Vista alongside XP so i could boot into either OS. Im not sure how to do this so ive temporarily upgraded to Vista. Ive looked into this on the net, but they all involve other programs. Surely there must be a way to install XP & Vista, without the need for other programs. I was thinking of installing XP first then Vista, but im unsure of the size to set each partition? Can anyone help? thx
The easiest way is to install XP first, then Vista on separate drives or partitions. You didn't mention the size of the drive in question, so I'd say cut the partitions in half.
Okay the drive Windows is on just now is 250GB. I have another drive which is 320GB but it stores my games etc. The only problem is Vista isnt on disc, its on the HDD. Can i install XP as normal on the 250GB, then install Vista alongside my games on the 320GB HDD? Or would i have to format the HDD first? Ive upgraded windows from XP to Vista but would rather have both. Any ideas? Thanks
below are the directions on how to dual boot vista and xp. It looks complicated but it's fairly easy to do and you can do it without spending any money on boot managers. installing vista after xp http://www.winsupersite.com/showcase/winvista_install_04.asp installing xp after vista http://www.pro-networks.org/forum/about88231.html http://www.pro-networks.org/forum/about92429.html
