I have my desktop computer hooked up to my hdtv/receiver via hdmi cable. In order to get sound out of my receiver I have to set my receiver as the default device under sound in the control panel. The problem is when I set my receiver as the default device no sound comes out of my computer speaker system. I want both my computer speaker and my receiver to work at the same time. I know its possible because I can get sound to come out of the both of them at the same time by running a test.

Any suggestion would be appreciated as always. Thanks in advance.

You are supposed to hear sound from all channels when you run the test. That's why it's called a test, so that you are aware of the channels that are capable or producing sound. Digital sound through an hdmi is dedicated. You can't have it both ways from the receiver (digital & analog). Having said that, there may be a solution but we need more info.

What kind of receiver? Computer specs., including audio card.
