I have an avi with dual audio layers and when it plays both layers play at the same time. would i be able to split the layers and make it so i could save the file with only one of the layers on it. thank you.

What is Probably Happening is that One Channel has one audio Track and the Other Chanell will have the Other audio Track so In essence your Audio is Made up of 2 Mono audio Tracks....

If you just want one of these audio Tracks then you can extract the audio File and then Load the audio File into an audio Editor and then Find out which Chanell has the audio you want and then delete the Unwanted audio Channel and then Copy the Chanell you want to Keep over to the Side you deleted and then save it as a New File and use that audio with your Movie.....

You can use an audio editor Like Sound Forge or Goldwave which will let you Load the AVI file directly into them withouit extracting the audio.....

    Cheers
