Hello - I am new to the DVD game and am very impressed with the guides. One guide that I did not see and am interested in is buring duel layers. For example if a DVD is 7.5gb rather then strip out all of the extras and languages, is there a way to burn the whole DVD using a duel layer? Will it still play as normal in my DVD player? Thanks.
almost all movies that come out are dual layer discs and it is possible to burn a dual layer disc but you have to have a dual layer dvd drive and dual layer dvdr media which blank dual layer discs are not cheap, you must also have software that is capable of burning a dual layer disc. You can still copy a dvd and not cut out any of the extras by burning it on a single layer disc by compressing it and still get an excellent copy.
If you have a DL burner ... and DL discs (which, right now are 10 for $19.99 at Best Buy) .. You can use the following guide to create an EXACT uncompressed 'backup' of your favorite DVD http://home.comcast.net/~bbmayo/Copying%20a%20Dual%20Layer%20DVD%20in%20DVD%20Decrypter.pdf ... and, considering the cost of replacing a damaged DVD, I consider $2 to be pretty darn reasonable for a clone of the original .. after all, compressed movies don't look all that clear on a 60" HDTv ...
Thank you for your help. I know that DVD-R will play in my home DVD player (Toshiba) but I am unsure whether the DVD+R DL will play. Do you have any insight?
I always booktype them to DVD-ROM and I have always enjoyed 100% compatability http://www.booktypefaq.com/
I started going through the guide to change the Booktype but in step 7, you are supposed to select your burner. I do not see my burner on any of the tabs, I have a Sony burner. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks.
