I,m very wet behind the ears on this Burning gig. I just recently purchased DVD X Copy platinum 4.0.3.8 older version with the ripper. Im only batting about .500 on successful copies. They all come up saying burn completed successfully, but on some, on the readable side of the disc is a dark ring, sometimes several of them,in this case the disc wont play. Now I can burn the disc again without changing anything and get a good copy. It sounds like it should be so easy. Is there something I might be overlooking. I have all programs shut down during the process, I have even tried disconnecting from the internet during the process. Help !
I suggest you try some different software like DVD Shrink and DVD Decrypter and see what kind of results you get. These two handy programs are free. My recommendation is to stay away from DVD X Copy.
Also get some decent blank media. Verbatim,Branded Ritek & Ridata (ritek disks) are very much recomended by many users on this forum. Check for potential improved firmware updates for your burner (ask Grogey about this, she's bordering on expert in this subject).
As stated, Shrink and Decrypter and better ways to backup dvd movies. Since you already paid for X copy and probably want to get it working, try this forum. http://dvdxcopy.afterdawn.com/ Good Luck. Jerry
I think I solved my problem. I'm not sure which one it was, but, I defragged immediatley prior to burning and I shut off My air conditioner, which runs on the same circuit. What can I say, I said I was wet behind the ears. Thanks for all your help This kind of forum is great.
