When I check off which audio streams I do and don't want, if I only keep the DD 5.1 for the main movie, does this mean that the DVD won't play audio if it's played directly through a TV? Since Tv's don't play in digital surround? I can't test this theory right now because both of my DVD players are directly hooked to Receivers.... I didn't think about this until now, after backing up about 5 or 6 movies. I've only been keeping the DD or DTS or Both, and unchecking everything else. Please shed some light on this for me.
Just don't check off the sound for the first Main VTS and you'll be alright. If you want DTS, UnCheck it off!! Weycraze It will still play directly through a tv.AC3 Audio.
So as long as I keep checked the Main audio in the main VTS folder, I will be alright? Usually there are 3 choices for audio, 6 channel english, a foregin (usually French) and 2 channel english. As long as I keep the 6 channel English checked, I will still get sound with only a TV? Correct? or do I need both the 6 channel and the 2 channel english?
All you need to do is select what languages you want and don't want in the set up panel. I wouldn't worry about removing the 2 channel audio tracks, they only require about 200 mb for an average length movie and depending on what all you are keeping on your backup you could loose audio to the menus and extras if you remove the 2 channel audio stream. If your backing up movie only then all you need is the 5.1 audio stream. Your tv will downmix the audio into 2 channel stereo. If you don't have a DTS reciever I recommend loosing that audio stream because it does take a lot more space. Hope that helped. Mort
Thanks Mort, I thought it worked like that but wasn't absolutely sure. And I couldn't test it yet. Good to know the tv will downconvert and play in 2 channel. thanks again
