    hello out there,

i mistakedly got some virus on my 8GB thomb drive, and whenever i try, to remove them, it takes so long that i afto stop the process half way, (using NORTON. so i was was wondering if they were removed partially or they can multiply and contaminate the whole drive. i was just wondering if they has the potential to multiply

yes viruses can infect any drive. a infected usb drive can also infect your computers hard drive. you should assume that your computers hard drive is infected also and run updated antivirus on it. it may be easier just to reformat your thumb drive.

yeh i know that it can infect the computer, but i have norton anti-virus protection so that is most unlikely. i was wondering if virus on the usb drive can multiply and pollute the drive even more. and i cant format the usb, ttheres too much valuable informationS. can virus multiply?

Did you know.. a lot of malware is deliberately designed to exploit flaws in norton.

They can spawn more copies, usually triggered by attempting to delete them.

You should try a cd based antivirus solution such as f-prot (hirons boot disk) to clear them without starting windows which they can hide behind.
