What are the best mini DV mini tapes to buy? Also can mini tape be used over and over. _X_X_X_X_X_[small]Canon Digital Camcorder ZR65 MC[/small]
have used memorex, tdk, and jvc. Can't tell the difference between them. Tapes can be used over and over-- who knows how many times is best.
I've been using Memorex MiniDV tapes because they are currently $22/6pack at Sams Club. No problems so far. You technically *can* reuse or record over existing content but most folks end up just using new tapes for each event because there is not a good and economical way to backup or store the content on the tapes yet (except on the tape itself).
Most recommended ones at other DV-related forums I read sometimes are Fuji and Sony. People there say that image/sound quality should be identical anyway (it's digital) but they care about what's best for the camcorder. Most important: Don't mix different brands. Tapes are covered with some kind of lubricant. Some of the lubricant will stick to the reading/writing head. If you use another brand of tape with different lubricant there can happen chemical reactions between lubricants resulting in the head getting dirty quickly, leading to sound/picture problems + shorter life of the head (using cleaning tapes damages the head to a certain degree).
