I have a couple of questions regarding burning video captured from a DV camera: 1)What is the best format (.wmv? .avi?) to save the extracted video, assuming it will be burned to DVD? I'd like to have the highest quality and retain that "crisp videotape" look if possible. 2) What do I use to convert this extracted file to DVD format? 3)What are the "opimtimum settings" for STOIK Video Converter using xvid? I tried capturing MS MovieMaker and STOIK Video Converter using the DV-AVI format. Then I tried using Movie Machine to burn to DVD. The audio extraction went fine, but when it hit the video encoder it errored out with some kind of compatability issue. Then I tried capturing to two different .wmv formats and using VSO Divx to DVD (.wmv is listed as supported) but that errored out on both files as well. I was going to try using STOIK to capture to Xvid, but there are so many options for that format that are way over my head. What is the "best practice" method of getting DV to DVD? Your suggestions would be greatly appreciated. thanks folks!!!
Read this: http://www.digitalvideoclub.com/basics/tapetodvd.php Always capture to DV-AVI, because no recompressions is taking place when doing that. Don't go to wmv, divx, vidX or whatever if your final goal is burning DVD.
