Hey again..i was wondering if..I buy some dvd 9 (+/- r) then can i just use my sony dvd ru500 to write a movie which is like 8 gig..plz someone help me..
Hi, do you mean double sided dvd's? i believe you have to split the film and record the first half to one side of the dvd, then turn it to the otherside and burn the rest to that side of the dvd.
I think Haran was refering to single sided media that will hold the 8 GB that a store bought DVD will. Unfortunately, your burner won't support that kind of media. Apparently it does exists, but is very expensive. The only options available to us are to either split the movie over 2 discs, or to use compression software. In my signature is a link on how to use compression software. That's what I do.
Do these discs actually exist ken? I know you can get the 9.4 dbl sided ones, but i thought, due to the way they are made ie pressed not burnt as such that they are not available to us. Or am i thinking to hard again lol
lol @ DMW. No, you aren't thinking too hard. The 9.4 GB discs do exist, but when I say expensive, I mean about $100 each. You are also correct that the store bought movies on DVD 9 are stamped, and that's why they hold so much; each layer is stamped seperately.
<<<<<<<<<<< woohoo! I knew if i tried this thinking lark It would pay off, 3/10 statements i make are almost correct !! Give that man a rusty star! Cheers Ken
As Ken says there is no point even buying the media (i actually heard it was a bit cheaper than that - bout $30, but i could be wrong) as there is virtual no drive available today to support it. However, it isnt actually a DVD-9 disc as such.
