Just letting everyone know that I am working on a guide for making DVDs.

    It will include:

    Encoding video to mpeg-2
Encoding Dolby Digital 5.1EX from a stereo source
Authoring with DVDLab Pro 1.53 (sorry did not install version 2 yet)
    Authoring with DVD Maestro
    Authoring with Sonic Scenarist
    Authoring with Muxman + PGCEdit
    Authoring with IFOEdit + PGCEdit
Creating Still Menus with Adobe Photoshop (or any other image editor)
Creating Motion Menus with Sony Vegas (or any other video editor)

I am not finished with the guide yet, but if there are any suggestions, I will take them into consideration. I will only offer this for download. I would have posted the guide online as I make it, but I am at 67 pages right now and I have quite a bit more to cover. That would have been one loooong post...

I am limited in software that I can use since I do not own everything, but suggestions are welcome.

I am trying to make this guide newbie friendly, but it is an advanced guide.

Currently I would say I am about 25% finished, but contentwise, about 60% or so.

    Just a quick update...

I am over 100 pages right now and finished the Sonic Scenarist section. I also added a small seciton on .OGM files. I also added a section on Motion menus with Still Foregrounds. I did not got too in depth here because if one doesn't know how to use an image editor, it should not be learned from an authoring guide.

I should be finished writing up the guide soon then I have to convert it to PDF and draw flow charts and such. It seems like this is becoming more of a book than a guide...

There is still time for adding sections, so suggestions are still welcome.

Here is an incomplete version of the guide. I have been posting it in other threads, but forgot to post it here...

This version has added True Dolby Digital 5.1EX from a 5.1 source (I call it 6.1 to distinguish from the stereo to 5.1). I also added other things, but do not remember off hand.

    approx 120 pages [10MB PDF]:

After the upload, I added a 20 or so page in depth guide for DVDLab Pro where I made an episodic DVD in 1 VTS. If anyone requests this version, I can upload it in word format only (.doc) because it takes a long time to convert the now over 140 page guide to PDF.

I am also planning on adding a stereo to stereo AC3 section in the audio encoding. Hopefully, I can also add a freeware 5.1 section because not everyone has Sony Vegas or any other commercial Dolby 5.1 Encoder.

I have not gotten to the freeware authoring section because I have yet to figure out how to create DVD Menus without using an authoring program.
