I've been having "dirty or damaged disc" problems with a few DVD's i've backedup. I've tried a few different types of media (DVD-R + DVD+R) and had problems with both. I have a new xbox(V1.6 i believe , not to sure which DVD drive is in it) but was curious which Media worked best for everyone else? Thanks in Advance!
http://www.llamma.com/xbox/Repairs/Images/DVDComparison.jpg with that you should be able to determine what drive you have. Being a 1.6 though, you either have a Phillips or the new Hitachi. I dunno where I put the pics for the Hitachi, if I find em, I'll post em. But from what I can remember, it looks like the Thompson. DDE's can be from a number of things, not just your media. Some games have "fixes" for them. Media, the Phillips should have no probs reading -R's. Try to get some Ritek G04's (4x) or G05's (8x), burn at 1 or 2x and see what happens.
from looking at the pictures i have the philips drive. i wanted to ask what is the best media for burning games for the philips drive becasue i use dvd+r datawrite and i get DDE's
The Phillips drive does well with Ritek G04's and Maxell Dvd-R 4X(yellow Coated)......they work great.
