I heard a lot of people give lots of Praise to RecordNow Max but having downloaded the 30 Day trial version of 4.50 I can't find any option for DVD building. I'm beginning to think it doesn't exist at all. Or maybe it's just the trial version, although it did say it was "Fully Operational". Maybe I'm just stupid and can't find it...anybody have any ideas?

I don't believe there is a DVD building option within Record Now.

I use it to burn my discs after I've gone through the DVD Decrypter, DVD2one steps.

So basically it only burns ISO files to DVD? Is there a program that would build a DVD ISO file from the files I specify, after I get a chance to compress them and edit them and just make an image as is without recompressing them?

Well, if I'm backing up a DVD 5 disc (under 4.7 GB) then I just use DVD Decrypter to rip them from the disc, and then right to Record Now to burn the DVD. But many movies are larger than 4.7 GB, so DVD2one is used to either compress it, or to strip out all the extras that aren't needed. (extra languages, deleted scenes, menus, etc.)

RecordNowMax burns the authored DVD title-set to a blank DVD-R. Thi smeans that the files must first have gone through: 1) a compression program like DVD2One or DVDShrink; or 2) a DVD Authoring program like TMPGEnc DVD Author or Spruce Up.

A step by step guide is available at:
    http://www.chrismccann.co.uk/recordnowmax.htm
Also, the 30-day trial should work just fine.

Recordnowmax is a BURNING software only.....

When you talk about dvd building, do you mean dvd authoring?

If it is, then as yuriv stated, you need to create a fully authored folder called VIDEO_TS.

This can be done if you are backing up already owned dvd's using dvd decrypter and dvd2one or dvdshrink.

Then Nero or Recordnowmax will burn that folder to a dvd.....

An authored folder will contain (for just a movie) an ifo/bup and 4 or 5 vob files.
These files cannot be created by the above burning software but by using the original files off a commercial dvd using the above and manipulating/editing/compressing them, then this will give you the correct files to burn.....

If you are processing camcorder shots etc, then you need an authoring program such as sonic or tmpgenc or ulead etc - this will take the video and convert it from mpegs to vobs - thus authoring and then you can burn it.

If you look at the recordnowmax guide at http://www.chrismccann.co.uk you will see, if you HAVE the required files within the VIDEO_TS folder, then you can just burn it as data.....

If you have any problems with the guide or need anymore info, give me a shout......

Well, in Nero... you don't have to burn from an .ISO, you can just throw the files into the Video_Ts directory and it will build/authorize the CD accordingly. On RecordNow Max you can't do that... you can only burn from an ISO file. Which is very dissapointing considering I'm havign huge compatibility issues whenever I burn with Nero. Even Roxio Easy CD creates more compatible CDs.

    Khabs035,
READ THE GUIDE that both myself and Baabaa have given you the link to.

RecordNowMax DOES NOT require an ISO image.

You simple place the files in a directory on your hard disc called VIDEO_TS and then import that to your project in RNM.
