I am new to this site but have been burning for awhile. I tried to burn a new movie and now my dvd burner doesn't work the computer won't even recognize the drive half the time, every time I try to burn it will will give me a I/O device error. Shrink won't recognize that there is a disk in the drive and nero gives me burn errors and dvd decrypt goes haywire! Is my dvd burner ruined now? When I reboot the computer sometimes the E drive is there and sometimes it is not! Please help me. Thanks Tam
go to the start button click control panel and click on system clcik on the hardware tab and click device manager tab now double click on DVD/CD ROM drives check if the is a yellow exclimation mark there if there is click on driver tab and uninstall the driver. then install it again.

Tnaks for your advice I tried uninstalling it, it still didn't work I actually think my burner went. When I tried opening the door it sounded like an airplane. thanks again Tam
