dvd burning nightmare's CAN'T BURN TO DVD

    i cant burn a file to dvd-r/+ that can play in my home dvd player?
    it can't read the disk no good? in my dvd player
    and the nightmare software nero express essentials&cyberlink dvd solution powerproducer that came with the LG/RW WONT BURN A AVI FILE
    TO A DVD-R DISK SAYS RONG FILE TYPE.


    i have 2002 xp pro wsp2 and duron[tm] processor 1.20ghz 736mb or ram &40gb hd.HL-DT-ST-DVDRAM GSA-H44L RW BURNER

    NERO BURNING ROM 6.6.014 AG
    NERO S/SMART 2.0.020 AG
    NERO V-EXPRESS 2.1.2.16 AG
    NERO SHOWTIME 1.5.0.31 AG
    NERO COVER 2.3.0.42 AG
    NERO BACKUP 1.2.0.52 AG

    CAN ANYBODY HELP ME WITH THIS DVD BURNING NIGHTMARE

    Are you trying to convert an AVI file to DVD format and burn to disk or are you trying to create a data DVD that can play AVI files on a DivX compatible, standalone player?

    i would like to burn a dvd that will be able to play in a regular dvd player that is hook-up to a tv. i wanna thank you for helping me
    with this problem

    Use "NERO V-EXPRESS 2.1.2.16 AG". You may still be unable to do it if it's a crippled OEM version though.

    ok ill try it sorry im kind of new at this dvd burning thing. i just want to burn a avi file to a dvd-r so i can play it on my home dvd player?
