Any help would be greatly apreciated as im a bit computer illitarate!
do you know if you have a dvd burner on your system? and if you have a film on your system right now you don't need a ripper to do that film that is on your system, yes you need a burning program, also do you know what type of dvd's blanks your burner will burn + - ?
I do not have a dvd burner on my system. how do i find out which blank dvds the burner will burn? thanx
As it came with the computer it didnt have a box. is the make of it the same make as the computer as i looked this up an it says DVD ROM IDE ? dont know if this is any help? thanx
Well it looks like you have a DVD Burner on your system, but lets be sure about what you have in the way of drive and blank DVD media. Download and install this program DVDidentifier this will tell us what drive and type of discs you are using. Also what is the format of the file you currently have on your computer that you want to make a DVD? In other words what is the extension at the end of the file. Example Video.AVI the extension falls right after the "." the last three letters.
Just go to the SOFTWARE section of AFTERDAWN, then Where it says Video software Goto DVD tools Look for DVDIDENTIFIER ( it's on the 1st pg) and download that. (it's Free)
Can you post a picture (screen capture) of what you get with DVD Identifier? OK you beat me to the question LOL Here it is for all to see
First off your drives firmware is out of date 1.70 there is a newer version available here v1.90 Also this is an older drive and only supports +R media are you trying to burn to -R DVD's It seems that you are? I'm sorry I may have mis spoke, but I am having a hard time finding any info on that drive to be sure what formats it supports. It however dosen't get very good reviews do a google ;-(
OK Look Here http://www.videohelp.com/dvdwriters...&hddvdrom=&orderby=Name&hits=50&Search=Search It appears that your drive only supports +RW media? That is odd and strange but may be true if it is older. Is this a Dell system? If so email them about support for that drive.
Well ive updated now, thanx. Its not a dell... If i get myself some DVD+RW instead of the -, my drive will support this?
To be perfectly honest you would be better off to just purchase a newer drive. You will save more money over time instead of buying RW media also with RW media you will have more issues as to what those disc's will actually play on. You can get a decent DVDRW drive that will support all formats for under $30 all over the Internet. In short the regular single layer R + or - DVDs will be much more compatible and cost a fraction of what you would pay for RW media.
