Hi there, I have a LITE-ON DVD RW SOHW-1653S and my PC is an Intel Pentium 3 processor 799 MHz 512Mb of Ram This DVD was working fine until a couple of days ago, if I insert a DVD in the player, it will try and read it and then the light (green) will just stop and if I click on the DVD icon in 'My Computer' it states that the DVD is empty, on the other hand if I insert a normal CD R data CD the DVD player will read it. Also, if I try to burn stuff onto a DVD using Nero, it will start burning and would stay on 1% completion then an error message would pop up saying 'Power Calibration Error' If anyone could help, I would really appreciate it. Thanks.
I had the same problem with my Pioneer drive. Would read a cd fine but wouldn't recognise a dvd. Tried everything from cleaning and reflashing the drive to uninstalling from device manager and re-installing. Followed a suggestion I found on AD about removing upper and lower class filters and that worked for awhile. In the end I wound up replacing my drive, couldn't complain much after so many back-ups though! Really look into problem here and I'm sure you will find something to help. Good luck!
Yeah thanks for the tip, I will try and figure something out, what is reflashing and upper and lower class filter, could you explain to me what that is or how to modify these things please. Thanks.
