Hey what discs are most compatible with dvd players. DVD+R OR DVD-R. Because on one of my dvd players the +r works better than -r and on another dvd player its vis versa....?
I guess you have answered your own question. Some work better with one format, other with the other. DVD-R is said to be compatible with about 96.7% of the players, and DVD+R with about 87.3. For the greatest compatibility, burn on DVD+R media and booktype to DVD-ROM if your burner is capable.

I don't agree on 3 things: 1. TDK never was or is top of the line media (in MY OPINION!). It may be made with quality but the compatibility doesn't match for top of the line media! 2. IN MY OPINION..... Taiyo Yuden DVD+Rs are the best out there.... for compatibility and quality! Never had a bad burn with them and has never let me down. So putting them as #3 is not what I would expect from the best. 3. And putting PIONEER media as #1 when it's been discontinued since 2003 is stupid! You can't find any media that has been discontinued since 2003 out there! why even bother to mention it, not less make it #1!
Hi, um can i change the booktype setting on convertxtodvd? And if not i have Imgburn and i no u can do it on there, but it wont let me burn things on Imgburn by things i mean downlaoded movies from the internet. I guess there the wrong format...Is there any waya round it?
I don't know about Convertxto DVD and booktype settings. You can have CVX2DVD save the DVD on your HDD and then open ImgBurn and do the burn.As for burning with ImgBurn, you first have to convert those downloads to a DVD structure with ConverxtoDVd and then do the burn. Unless you have a player that supports avi/divx playback, then you just burn them as data with a different software.
I don't see a booktyping setting in ConvertXToDVD but ..... if you set your drive to booktype your +R media to DVD-ROMs then you don't have to set your programs to booktype to DVD-ROMs because the drive does it automatically!
How do i set my drive's booktype? ALso, if i convert with CVX2DVD how do i save the file so tht i can open it up in Imgburn?
Ok never mind my previous post, i no how to save the file in convertxtodvd now lol. But do i untick "prefer SAO for dvd-r" if im goin to be burnign to a dvd+r in ImgBurn? Also, when i change the booktype, im not to sure what drive type i ahve? (I have a philips external dvd burner) if tht helps. Would it be RICOH?
you should be able to booktype your Philips DVD drive....... just follow this: use DVDDecrypter to set your drive to Booktype to DVD-ROMs like I did with my Philips DVD burner: 1. open up DVDDecrypter and then set the SOURCE to your Philips burner. then hit the TOOLS/DRIVE/CHANGE BOOKTYPE and then: 2. hit the BenQ tab (my Philips 8631 burner is a rebadged BenQ drive) 3. set CHANGE FOR: to DRIVE(FOR DVD+R MEDIA). 4. NEW SETTINGS: TO DVD-ROM then hit CHANGE! and you're done! if your Philips drive isn't a BenQ then you can try other means to see if you can change your drive settings or booktype to DVD-ROM. good luck.
@Rotary........ DVDInfo Pro will only booktype BenQ drives...... if his Philips wouldn't booktype with ImgBurn or DVDDecrypter from the BenQ tab or the other tabs.... I seriously doubt that DVDInfo Pro will set his booktyping. I guess it's a try though!
m_d_h's external Phillips drive is made by Liteon and should support bitsetting. Silly questions but: Your drive is plugged in and you have selected the correct drive? The first drive would most likely be the drive that came with your computer/laptop. You have inserted + media and waited for the drive to stop blinking? If you still can't change the booktype, it is possible your drive automatically changes the booktype.
