Why do I never have any files in the destination folder in Shrink when I make a back-up of a Disney movie?

I use DVD Decrypter, DVD Shrink and AnyDVD to make all of my back-up and I all ways have problems with Disney movies.

Every time I start Shrink and go to Re-author and then to my destination folder it is empty!

I had the same problem with Chronicles of Narnia, and had to use DVDFab Decrypter to decrypt it and then it would appear in the destination folder in Shrink. The only thing is that DVDFab Decrypter says that it is not compatible with AnyDVD so I have to end up shutting AnyDVD down and just using DVDFab Decrypter. Which makes me wonder why I spent $39 to register AnyDVD when it seems to me that DVDFab Decrypter will handle problems that AnyDVD will not.

Please someone give me some direction here.

Why do you use Nero to burn when Shrink will do it for you?

All you realy need is DVDFab Decrypter and Shrink to do it.

I did POC 2, using Shrink w/nero, and AnyDVD running in the background. No problems at all. I never have problems with Disney movies, using Shrink, Nero, and AnyDVD.

Shrink [bold]will not[/bold] do it for you! It's impossible! Shrink does not have a burning engine. If you use Shrink, then it's using DVD Decrypter, IMGBurn, Nero, CloneDVD, or some other burn engine you have on your computer, to do the burning. There is a box, in Shrink's preferences, that can be checked to "Enable burning with Nero".
The reason it [bold]seems[/bold] to you, that Shrink is burning, is because Shrink automatically opens and starts the burning software, during the whole process.

    As usual:

    (1) DVDFAB Decrypter (FREE) to rip.
    (2) VobBlanker (FREE) to delete/blank out all unwanted junks.
    (3) Transcoded with Nero Recode with "AA + HQSR + Assign Best Quality to Main Movie".
    (4) Burn with Nero Burning Rom.

    And backup came out perfect.

    Best of luck!!

Ok....My mistake. I now that I think about it, it is DVD Decrypter that burns it...I remember setting the burn speed to 4.

Will one of you "Senior Members or Moderators" please answer my original question though.

What is the problem with DVD Decrypter $ Shrink when it comes to Disney movies???
I have been using AnyDVD in the process and I am not getting any results!
I could have saved myself $39 if I had just started using DVDFab Decrypter from the get go, because it handles them with no problems.

Everyone I talked to when I first started inquiring about making back up copies said that AnyDVD was the best $39 that they had ever spent, but it looks to me like I could just use DVDFab Decrypter $ Shrink and I wouldn't have had any problems!

    @GETaklu.........
I think you have something else on your computer, that's got a conflict with AnyDVD, or something. I say this because I use AnyDVD, and a lot of other folks too, and we don't have any problems with Disney movies. So far, I've never had even one problem with them. Therefore, we don't know what to tell you. I'm one that thinks AnyDVD is the best $39 I've spent in many years!

Send Slysoft an email about it. Maybe they know of a conflict with software, that you have on your computer. Do you have, or ever had DVD43 on your computer? There is a definite conflict with it. If you have, or ever had it, clean your registry of all it's (DVD43) parts. That may help.

Those of us that's never experienced the problems with Disney dvds, can't tell you how to fix it. We can only guess.........
    Good luck!

You also have to setup DVD Decrypter to use AnyDVD's drivers for the ripping...

To rip to HDD with DVD Decrypter while AnyDVD strips the copy protection, set up DVD Decrypter as follows...Tools, Settings, I/O tab...tick Elby CDIO->Elaborate Bytes. In the general tab untick the option to check for structure protection. These settings will allow AnyDVD to strip the protection for DVD Decrypter.
It's not just Disney movies...there are many movie companies out there that are applying insane amounts of copy protection to their movies so thwart attempts at piracy.

You can also use AnyDVD's ripper instead of letting it run behind other programs. Also make sure that you are using the most current version of the program, slysoft updates almost weekly.

Disney & Sony are 2 of the most toughest when it comes to DVD ripping and backup. So you got to make sure all your tools (regardless if it's FREE or retail) are up-to-date to handle the latest protections.
All of my ripping tools are FREE; DVDFAB Decrypter and RipIt4Me. Yes, totally FREE and simple -- I've been using them since they're first introduced to the public to current and to be honest, I've never encountered any DVD/movie that it can not be ripped whatsoever using either method (DVDFAB or RipIt4Me).

I don't like to suggest retail programs to others (members) without acknowledging of knowing if it's going to satisfy them down the road. All I ever recommended are FREE tools like DVDFAB Decrypter and RipIt4Me. So if members didn't like to use them, then he/she can just get a retail program by his/her own choice.

    Best of luck!!

I have been using DVD Decrypter $ Shrink for a good while now, I have made backups of about 150 DVD with these 2 programs.
I think that they do a really good job and I am used to using them.
I didn't start running into problems until recently and that is when I purchased AnyDVD (which I have been using for about 4 months).
I works great for me on any thing that is not a recent Disney release.

The weird thing is that when I try to make a backup up of a Disney movie it goes through all the motions and puts all the files in the destination folder just like it always does, but when I open Shrink and go to re-author, then my destination folder there is nothing there at all.
There is no title 1 to drag over to start encoding.
This only happens with recent Disney releases and nothing else.

The crazy thing is that DVDFab Decrypter handles it without a hitch, no problems with DVD structure, no problems with structural copy protection, no problems with bad sectors.
I don't mind spending $39 on a program that is supposed to handle it all if it works right.

But you may be right, it might just be a conflict with my something else on my computer.

I will have that all cleared up in about a week when my wife gets done with school and I format my HD and reinstall.
Then I will know for sure.

I did a successful Copy of Pirates of the Caribbean 2. I was running Slysoft AnyDvD v6.0.9.9 in the background and then used VobBlanker v2.12.0b5 and put in a folder on the hard drive labeled PIRATES_OF_THE_CARIBBEAN_2 after that then I used DvD Shrink v3.2. Then you have a working copy.

The fact that DVD Shrink is no longer updated may be part of your problem.

I use AnyDVD to rip the DVD then attempt to shrink the movie using DVD Shrink. If DVD Shrink is unable to shrink the movie, then I go straight to CloneDVD 2 (made by Slysoft the same as AnyDVD) and either let CloneDVD 2 shrink and write the movie, or I write the movie to a dual layer disc. I only use Verbatim 16X DVD+R's or 2.4-6X Dual Layer DVD+R's and my burner is a Plextor PX-755SA (Serial ATA)and I can't remember when I last created a coaster.

Need some help. I downloaded DVDFABDecrypter and it says that the dvd is complete but, when I insert it to my dvd player it doesn't play anything. It comes up with error on disc.

I noticed you didn't mentioned "shrinking or transcoding" the movie. So did you even transcoded/shrunk your backup via DVD Shrink or Nero Recode at all? You'll need to shrink/transcode your backup, then burn the completed VIDEO_TS folder or ISO in order to play via your DVD player.

Unless you're going with DL route (DVD+R DL, DVD9), then of course you don't need to compress.

To make a long story short, follow the steps/process below:

    * DVDFab Decrypter - to rip into hard drive
    * DVD Shrink or Nero Recode (your choice) - to transcode or compress
    * ImgBurn or Nero (your choice) - to burn your final VIDEO_TS folder

    Here is my issue/problem.

I ripped the movie to my HD with DVDFab. Ran VOB Blanker (just the one file and hit (.TS-?) process) Used Shrink to copy the whole thing onto a DL disc. Once I put it in my player it starts out OK, but when the menu comes up the arrow to select Play, etc... is not there. Once I get it going again it is there, but locks up on chapter 2. I think if I play around I can get it to play but I don’t remember what I did.

    Any suggestions?

Sorry if this has been covered, I looked around a little but did not find the answer to my question.

    BTW this site ROCKS!

I am adding more information. It appears if I press menu twice it will start the movie.
