Why does DVD-Decrypter read at different speeds with different DVD recorded movies? One dvd was being read at 1.2 and another was around 3.4? Nothing I would have reason to play with, but It's just something I have to know.

it depends on how good the disk was burned and the quality of the media and how good the condition is in terms of fingerprints, scratches, dirt...
it also depends on the dvd-rom or dvd burner, and if there is rip-locks in the firmware.

Thanks for the reply 300Bowler: I now know why and reading your answer I got stuck with another question "what the hey is rip-lock"? which I Googled and got a site that explains rip-lock very well. I was going to put the site here for others ,but It involves updating firmware and flashing your drive which looked a little dangerous for a beginner like me ,so I don't dare post it,I don't want to make trouble for someone who may try it and ruin their day. I think I'll leave mine alone and let it read at it's own chosen speed, which has been successful to this point.
