A member of AFTER DAWN FORUMS answered my question by suggesting I do a search for dvd decryter. As always I am still confused. I will restate my question here in the hopes that someone understands what I am REALLY looking for. I am NOT a techno geek, I need help in plain language, NOT computereeze. I have found that SOME but not ALL commercial dvds have some form of COPY PROTECTION embedded into the disc. That means that a given dvd may or may not play in one or both of my dvd players(not the ones in my computer, the stand alone type). I have my player connected to my vcr and then to the tv, the usual configuration. Because of the CP on the disc, the vcr will NOT record the disc, unwatchable noise appears, typically in RECORD mode but NOT in stand by mode(transport not moveing). Some discs will not play in this mode either. NON CP discs play/record perfectly. What I need is a product, crcuit, project, black box I can use to REMOVE the CP from the disc so the vcr can record it. Quality is the issue useing the equipment I have. Combination units typically also do NOT allow this either. Because the internal connections are absent or the CP gets in the way, AGAIN! I have NO interest in RECORDING/BURNING on disc, either useing a DISC RECORDER or a computer. My tower cannot do this, NO BURNING DRIVE, wrong processor. I thought dvd decrypter was what I needed, a "black box", a pysical product. Apparently it is yet another computer program that I probably won*t understand, and probably cannot use for practical reasons. SOLUTIONS PLEASE! Do you understand what I am trying to do? dvd to vcr recording, NOT vcr to disc recording, the exact opposit of the current trend. Disc recorders in general are expensive, and do not exist at the retail level. I am happy with my vcrs and have no desire to change and create a whole new set of problems I can*t solve. As an aside, My open reel machines are over 40 years old, and work perfectly fine for me. I have 100+ reels of music taken from various sources, the oldest sound as good as the newest, at least to me. As an analogy, I have 5 media players in my tower. Only 2 can handle CP discs. I am useing a vga to analog line out converter to my vcr for recording. Although it works it is impractical. There should be a way to do the same thing useing a dvd player, vcr, and tv, Only these three. Am I asking for something that does not exist? SOMEONE must be able to help me! With all thoes computer wizzes out there, I am sure someone has already found a solution, I CANNOT be the only BABY BOOMER out here who has this issue!
